الذكرى السنوية الـ36 لوفاة الفنان الكوردي محمد شيخو
يصادف اليوم الأحد 9 آذار 2025 الذكرى السنوية السادسة والثلاثون لرحيل الفنان محمد شيخو الذي اشتهر في أجزاء كوردستان الأربعة بصوته العذب و ألحانه و عزفه ومواقفه القومية والوطنية تجاه قضية شعبه.
نبذة عن حياة الفنان محمد شيخو
ولد الفنان الكوردي محمد شيخو عام 1948 في قرية (گرباوي) المعربة باسم ( أبو راسين ) التابعة لمدينة قامشلو إحدى قرى كوردستان سوريا. ولقبوه بعدة ألقاب صوت كوردستان و البلبل الحزين, خدم الأغنية الكوردية بكل تفان وإخلاص، وله إسهامات واضحة في الأغنية القومية ستذكرها الأجيال الكوردية طويلاً.
وهو في العشرين من عمره، كانت أولى تجاربه الغنائية في الأعراس والمناسبات التي تقام في الحسكة , وفي عام 1970 عاد إلى قريته لكنه لم يمكث فيها كثيراً، حيث قصد بيروت لدراسة الموسيقى، واصبح عضواً في فرقة (سهركهفتن - Serkeftin) للفلكلور الكوردي إلى جانب سعيد يوسف و محمود عزيز شاكر، وأحيا في بيروت حفلات عديدة. في عام 1973, ترك لبنان باتجاه إقليم كوردستان واستقر في مدينة كركوك ومن ثم في بغداد.
وفي فترة مكوثه بكوردستان زار الفنان محمد شيخو القائد مصطفى البارزاني، وقدره كثيراً على خدماته الجليلة للأغنية والموسيقى الكوردية وكافأه على ذلك.
ظل محمد شيخو في صفوف البيشمركة حتى عام 1975 ثم ذهب مع الألوف المهاجرة من أبناء شعبه إلى إيران، لكنه أصيب هناك باليأس والإحباط حيث ضايقته المراقبة والمخابرات الإيرانية نتيجة مواقفه من القضية الكوردية وتسجيله لعدد من الأغاني، هذا من جانب ومن جانب أخر رأى ان أصدقائه قد تشتتوا بين العودة إلى كوردستان العراق والهجرة إلى الخارج، فاضطر العودة إلى كوردستان سوريا في عام 1981 ثم استقر تماماً في مدينة قامشلو واستمر في مسيرته الفنية بالإضافة لمساعدته للفنانين الكورد، استطاع تشكيل فرقة فنية للأطفال ليعلمهم الأناشيد الوطنية والأهازيج الفلكلورية.
في 9 آذار 1989 رحل فنان الكورد محمد شيخو إثر مرض مفاجئ بعد يوم من اعتقاله وتعذيبه على يد مخابرات النظام السوري حيث إنهم قد قاموا بخلع أظافره وقطع أحد أصابعه وتسميمه عدة مرات بسبب أغانيه القومية التي كانت تطال النظام السوري احياناً, ووري الثرى في مقبرة الهلالية وسط جماهير حاشدة وبمراسم مهيبة تليق بمكانته كفنان أعطى عمره من أجل ذلك.

UN Calls Syria’s Cooperation with Chemical Weapons Watchdog a "Positive Step"
ARK News.. The United Nations has welcomed Syria’s recent steps toward cooperation with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), describing them as “encouraging.”
During a UN Security Council briefing on Friday night, March 7, 2025, regarding Syria’s chemical weapons program, Izumi Nakamitsu, the UN High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, stated:
"The new Syrian administration has taken steps to engage with the OPCW, aiming for full compliance with international law and opening a new chapter of cooperation to address outstanding issues. We welcome these developments and find them encouraging."
Nakamitsu emphasized that Syria’s new political landscape presents a unique opportunity to obtain long-awaited clarifications regarding its chemical weapons program. She also praised the Syrian government's commitment to full cooperation and transparency with the OPCW.
She further noted that Syria and the OPCW Technical Secretariat have already begun working towards these objectives. The UN Security Council has been informed of upcoming steps, including the planned deployment of an OPCW technical team to Damascus for collaboration and joint planning for site inspections.
Nakamitsu urged the international community to support these efforts and provide the necessary resources to ensure their success.

Israel Conducts Incursion into Southern Daraa
ARK News.. Israeli forces advanced, on the night of Friday-Saturday, March 7-8, 2025, into the town of Jamlah, west of Daraa in southern Syria, carrying out raids on several homes amid heightened security measures.
According to the local news outlet Ahrar Horan Gathering, Israeli forces "imposed a security cordon around a house in the town and demanded that the homeowner present himself, while his wife and children remained inside."
Meanwhile, Syrian TV cited local sources stating that Israeli soldiers "made direct contact with the homeowner, ordering him to surrender without providing any explanation for the demand."
The report added that "this incursion is part of a series of similar operations recently conducted in southern Syria, amid escalating security tensions in the region."

Death Toll in the Coastal Region of Syria Rises to Nearly 350
ARK News.. The Syrian coastal areas and the Latakia mountains have witnessed tragic events, including sectarian and regional-based executions, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of civilians, including women and children.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, security forces, the Ministry of Defense, and affiliated militias have committed war crimes and human rights violations, operating with complete impunity due to the absence of legal accountability.
The Observatory reported that these atrocities have claimed the lives of 340 civilians, with young men being executed in a manner reminiscent of the security forces’ brutal tactics under the former regime, marking a collective act of retribution.

Death Toll in Syria’s Coastal Region Rises to Nearly 350

President Barzani: Kurdistan’s Women Are a Symbol of Sacrifice, Dignity, and Resilience
ARK News.. President Masoud Barzani emphasized that the women of Kurdistan embody sacrifice, dignity, and resilience, stressing the importance of respecting their status, rights, and demands.
In a statement marking International Women's Day, observed annually on March 8, President Barzani wrote on the platform X:
"I extend my warmest congratulations to all women in Kurdistan, Iraq, and around the world on the occasion of International Women's Day. The women of Kurdistan are a symbol of sacrifice, dignity, and resilience. We must all respect their status, rights, and demands."

Statement on the Rapid Developments in the Syrian Coast
ARK News.. The Kurdish National Council in Syria (KNC) has condemned the recent developments in the Syrian coastal region, which have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of people. The Council urged the new administration in Syria to handle the situation with wisdom and restraint.
Full statement:
The Kurdish National Council is closely monitoring with deep concern the rapidly unfolding events in the Syrian coastal region. Clashes between the General Security Forces and armed groups led by officers and elements of the former regime have resulted in the deaths of hundreds, most of whom are civilians. This escalation further exacerbates the suffering of the Syrian people and fuels chaos and division.
These events coincide with a surge in protests across several Syrian regions, demanding the inclusion of all components in drafting the constitution and shaping the country’s future.
While condemning the armed operations that undermine stability and target the General Security Forces, the Council asserts that the authoritarian regime—responsible for the destruction of the country and the displacement of millions—continues to exploit the current situation to spread disorder and disrupt civil peace. This is further facilitated by regional interventions and structural weaknesses that hinder the launch of a genuine democratic transition. The Council warns against deepening the crisis through the continuation of exclusionary policies pursued by the Syrian Interim Government, as such policies pose significant risks to the country’s future.
In light of its national responsibilities, the Kurdish National Council urges the new administration to act wisely in addressing the unfolding crisis, take immediate measures to halt violations against civilians, ensure their safety and protect their properties in the coastal region and other affected areas, and reject sectarian rhetoric that targets Syria’s diverse communities. The Council also calls for a transparent investigation into all violations and abuses and emphasizes the need to form a transitional government with broad powers that genuinely represents the aspirations of all Syrians, free from the exclusionary practices that have characterized previous dialogue conferences and the constitutional declaration committee.
Furthermore, the Council reiterates its call for a serious national dialogue involving all Syrian components, based on pluralism and democracy, without external political interference. It also urges the international community to assist in laying the foundations for the new Syrian state.
Dialogue and political solutions remain the only viable path to overcoming the country’s accumulated crises. In this context, the Council calls upon all national forces to assume their responsibilities and work together to ensure a democratic and just future for all Syrians.

زيلينسكي: روسيا متمسكة بالحرب وأهدافها لم تتغير
أكد الرئيس الأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي، أن أهداف موسكو "لم تتغيّر" في أوكرانيا، وأن الضربات الجديدة التي شنّتها روسيا ليل الجمعة-السبت 7 و 8 آذار 2025، أسفرت عن مقتل 12 شخصا على الأقل.
قال الرئيس الأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي عبر تليغرام إن "ضربات كهذه تظهر أن أهداف روسيا لم تتغير"، مضيفاً "لذلك من المهم مواصلة القيام بكل ما يمكن لحماية الحياة، تعزيز دفاعنا الجوي وتشديد العقوبات على روسيا".
واتهم زيلينسكي أمس الجمعة، روسيا بعدم الاهتمام بالسلام على خلفية قيامها بشن هجوم جوي ضخم آخر.
وقال زيلينسكي في خطابه اليومي مساء أمس الجمعة: "اليوم، كان هذا الهجوم الروسي على نظام الطاقة الخاص بنا ومنشآتنا المدنية أمرا روتينيا بالنسبة لروسيا أكثر من أي وقت مضى".
ومن ناحية أخرى أكد زيلينسكي أن أوكرانيا مهتمة بتحقيق سلام سريع.."في كل يوم، تثبت الضربات الروسية الجديدة والواقع نفسه أنه يجب إجبار روسيا على السلام".
